Find Out If You Have Orthodontic Insurance

Ask and you shall receive - at least an answer to your question.

If you have dental insurance, chances are that policy might cover orthodontic treatment. To find out if you have orthodontic coverage, contact your dental insurance provider today and ask the following important questions:

  • Does my policy cover orthodontic treatment?
  • Is there a waiting period?
  • Is there an age limit?
  • Is orthodontic treatment in-progress covered?
  • What is the deductible?
  • Has any amount been used already?
  • Do standard coordination of benefits apply if there is more than one policy?

As a courtesy to Lucas Orthodontic Group patients, our team will verify your insurance on your behalf.

How Does Orthodontic Insurance Work?

We'll help you fully understand your insurance coverage and patient responsibility before treatment.

It is important to understand that even with verification of orthodontic insurance, the financial responsibility of treatment lies with you as the patient. Verification of insurance does not guarantee payment and we can only provide you with a good faith estimate of your coverage.

Having an estimate of how much your insurance may cover will be helpful.

Insurance Coverage

Most insurance companies do not pay their portion in one lump sum. They typically make an initial down payment, followed by monthly or quarterly payments over the course of your orthodontic treatment.

This is why you should always check your balance prior to canceling or making any policy changes. If there are changes in your insurance information, contact our Billing Department at:

Patient Responsibility

Payment arrangements can be made for any amount not covered by your orthodontic insurance.

As with your treatment plan, all financial information will be outlined before you start treatment so there are no surprises down the road. Our treatment coordinators are here to help you every step of the way.

Frequently Asked Questions About Orthodontic Insurance

Understanding insurance has never been easier.
  • How much does orthodontic insurance cover?
Orthodontic insurance coverage widely varies from provider to policy. To find out how much your orthodontic insurance will cover, call your dental insurance provider today and ask the important verification questions above.
  • What if my orthodontic insurance is out of network?
That doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t be covered at Lucas Orthodontic Group. Prior to starting treatment, we can verify your orthodontic insurance and estimate your coverage.

As a courtesy to our patients, we file all insurance claims, regardless if they are in-network or not.

  • Do I need to be referred to use orthodontic insurance?

You do not need to be referred to receive treatment at Lucas Orthodontic Group.

If you lost or are considering canceling your orthodontic insurance, we encourage you to call us to determine your outstanding insurance balance. Most orthodontic insurances make payments over the course of your treatment. So if you still have a balance and no longer have orthodontic insurance to cover it, you will be responsible for the remaining balance.

If your orthodontic treatment is in-progress and you are replacing current or adding new orthodontic insurance, it is important you find out your new coverage options. Some policies have stipulations on covering treatment currently in-progress.

  • What if I don't have orthodontic insurance?
We understand that not everyone has dental insurance, let alone orthodontic insurance. To meet the needs of most individuals and families, we offer flexible payment options and we accept major credit cards.

Before you start treatment, you will receive a treatment plan that clearly outlines financial information, providing a breakdown of costs and fees.
